Home Theater
Friday, September 26, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

One of the first things I'd like to look for in a home is enough space, maybe in a basement or something to have room for a home entertainment system. I love watching movies and hanging out with family and friends...so this is something that's really important to me. I want to look for this in a home, and then look for the actual home theater seating online. I don't think I'll have too hard of a time, as I know there's plenty available out there for prices I can afford.

Fun Weekend
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I'm glad it's Friday! I am home with the family and just enjoying my time relaxing and chatting. Tomorrow my sister, her husband and my little niece are going to be coming to visit, so I'm really looking forward to that as well. I haven't seen them for over a month and miss seeing them. My little niece is 11 months old and changing by the day, so I don't like to go too long without seeing them. I'm sure we'll have a good time, and the weekend will go by far too quickly.

Health Insurance
Thursday, September 18, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

One thing I learned when I took this new job was how important it is to get health insurance quote. It seems there are lots of options out there for health insurance, some better than others. Do some searching around before commit to one or the other. You might be surprised at how much you save. My sister recently switched companies and now saves over 60 dollars a month! That's a lot of money.

Raising Horses
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Horses are really an amazing animal. I wish that I knew them better and had more experience with them. I would love to have a horse someday for my kids to get to know...one with english saddles and all the equipment necessary to care for them right at our home. I suppose first I need to learn more about them and all that it takes to care for a horse. I just think it would be fun. I'm not sure if it will ever happen, but I'd sure like to try!

Smart Baby
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

My sister e-mailed me a super cute video of my neice the other day. She really loves to sit and look at her books and she's not even 11 months old yet! It's really fun to watch her sit there and flip through all the pages. My sister even told her to flip to a certain page with a cat on it, and she did. She's SO smart. I never was around babies before she and my nephew were born, so I'm constantly amazed at all they can do. It's been so fun to watch them change and grow. I can't believe they're almost a year old already!

Yummy Food
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Also...in Hollywood we ate at Hooters. This was somewhere that I'd eaten before, but I really like the food they have so I wasn't against going. It was really good. We don't have these restaurants around where we live, so it was fun to go. My boss kind of razzed us a bit, as Hooters showed up on the expense report. He didn't really care....but just gave us a little bit of a hard time about it. I can see where he was coming from. We probably won't do that again.

Tickets
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

It can be quite a hassle to find sports tickets. I know! I've tried and tried to get good Miami Heat tickets , but have had no luck. I did some searching though, and came across Premium Seats USA. They seem to offer what I'm looking for as they have a huge selection of first class tickets to NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL games, as well as tickets to events and concerts! They have it ALL! I was happy to have found them and thought others may want to check them out as well. Head over to their site today for more information and the services you need to get the tickets you've always wanted!

Walk of Stars
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

When I was in LA for business we got to see some really neat places that I'd never been before. We got to go to Hollywood and to the Chinese Theatre. We saw the walk of stars which was really neat, especially since you see so much of it on tv. I don't know why, but when you see something on tv so much, and then actually get to see it in person it's pretty surreal. It was so fun getting to be there and see all of these things. I hope I get to go back someday, it was sure a lot of fun!

Great Shows!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Do you ever watch HGTV? I usually don't, but when I'm around family I can't help but watch it. My sister and my mom especially enjoy watching it. They like to get ideas for updates on their homes from the different shows available on this channel. They've both done some really neat things in their homes, and many of the ideas came from the shows on this channel. I never used to think that this was a very interesting channel, but with their variety of shows I actually like watching it when I'm around them.

Oldest man in the world turns 113!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Have you heard the story of the oldest man in the world celebrating his 113th birthday?! That is just crazy. I'm amazed that anyone could even live that long. He's from Japan and told reporters that he feels the reason for his long life is the fact that he doesn't drink alcohol. Makes you think that this could have something to do with it. I'm sure it's not the best for you. I'm glad I don't do it. He also said he eats a lot of veggies. What's so neat is that he'd like to live another 10 years. He has such a positive attitude! I wonder what the reason for his long life really is?? I guess people in Japan are known to have a longer life span...must be something?!?

New I35 Bridge Opens
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I have grown up here in the midwest and love it. We usually don't have a lot of "exciting news" to share, but recently we have something that I'm sure everyone has heard! The new I35 bridge is opening. If you haven't heard of this, it's definitely exciting news! Last year it collapsed and tragically killed a number of people as their cars were submerged under water. It was incredibly sad. Everyone couldn't believe how a thing like this could happen. It's nice to know that much thought and time has been put into building this one. It should hold up for a very long time!

CSN
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

If you've done your share of shopping online, you've probably heard of the Cable Shopping Network. In fact, you may have even heard of them even if you've just shopped with them online. Thousands and thousands of customers shop with CSN because of their fantastic collection of collectibles that they offer. For instance, if you're looking for presidential dollars you'll find it here! They have so many neat things and they have fun while selling it! They also try to build relationships with their customers which I think is neat too! If you'd like to learn more about them, check them out on TV or head over to their site to get more information and to see what they have to offer you!

Tired Today
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Wow...I am sure am tired today!! The past few nights I've been up late trying to get some things done on my newer blog. I am redoing the banner on it and trying to expand the content that I cover. It's not easy overhauling a blog that you've had for a while now. It was doing very well reader wise, but I just thought it would be nice to reach a larger number of people by talking about a number of different things. I hope it pays off...it should I think...we'll just have to see.

Baby Signing Time
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

When I was at my sister's last, her little girl was watching a baby signing dvd. I was amazed how well she watched it. She smiled the whole time and you could see her trying to copy some of the things she was doing on the video. I thought it was really cool! She's even learning to do some signs on her own...like "more", "all done", "puppy", etc. This is helpful to her parents, as now they don't have to wonder what she is wanting. I'd like to do signing with my kids one day.

Capella University
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Capella University is probably one of the most well known online universities out there. They are a fully accredited online university that offers both master's and undergraduate degrees! Their site is pretty neat too....as there is a wealth of information there to help people find if this is the place for them or not. What I like best are their Inside Online Education Podcasts that they update frequently. These are actual interviews with staff and students. It's always nice to hear real testimonials and about experiences and opinions. If you're considering getting a degree online, check out Capella first!

New Glasses??
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

It's come to my attention in the past couple of weeks that I really need to get to an eye doctor. Yes, I know...i still haven't gone! I sit in front of a computer a lot at work, and when I get home from work....and having better glasses would sure help out a lot. I tend to get headaches lately...specifically when I am starring at something a long time, like my computer screen for instance. I think that I may need a new prescription or something?! I hope not because that's a lot of money, but if it would help keep headaches from coming then it would be worth it!

Do You Want To Make More Money?
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I was just thinking today what a blessing it is to be able to make a little money online. It was something I never would have even thought was possible a few years back...and now it's a great source of extra income for me and my family. I guess I got to thinking about it recently because I'm on vacation and still able to make money. Anywhere there's a computer...I can make money. It's always nice to have that to rely on. I'm glad I found that blogging for money can be such a fun and easy thing to do to make a little extra cash.

The Real World
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I sure have been working a lot lately. I was really getting a lot of time to play on the computer and update my PS3 blog more...but now that I've been working so much, it's been hard to make any more changes that I was hoping to make. Oh well...I guess that's part of being in the real world now...and not just in college. I love where my job is taking me...and I guess I can always find time to work on my websites another day. At this point in my life I need to remember what my priorities are...and work definitely comes before play.

Great Perks!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

As an employee of John Deere we get some wonderful perks. One of those being a membership to our workout facility there. It has actually worked out very well, because my girlfriend Renee is a personal trainer for an internship she's doing there....so I choose her as my trainer. Now I go there at least three times a week and she trains me. It's a lot of fun. If that's the career path she chooses....she'll do a great job!!

Syncsort Incorporated
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Seeing how I'm the type of person interested in everything and anything dealing with technology, I feel it is my duty to pass on any news or information I receive about great products and sites. Recently I came across Syncsort for instance, and thought it was something that many people would probably be happy to hear about. Especially those who are part of large businesses. Why you ask? Well, Syncsort Incorporated develops, markets and services software for data management and data protection. They are the leading developer for performance data protection and data management software and their products are used in more than 50 countries. They help improve database loads, improve performance as well as speed up data warehouse processing. I thought they were a great company and one I wanted to pass along to you in case you wanted to learn more about their data protection solutions.

Smart Baby, Reading
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

My sister sent me a video yesterday of my little niece looking at her books. She's so smart and just loves to look at them. She's not even one yet, but you can tell she's learning something each and every time. She's even started to point at pictures when asked and saying some things that she sees in the pictures. It was fun watching her flip through the pages and find the "kitty" when asked. I think it's SO amazing how smart babies are and how quickly they learn!!

Junk E-mails
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

While I was away on business, I hadn't been able to check my personal e-mail for quite some time. That was a mistake because now I have thousands of junk e-mails to sift through, just to make sure I don't have e-mails I need in there too. It's frustrating that e-mail accounts get taken over by junk like this. I wouldn't mind just a few, but thousands is way too much! Would you agree?? It's really irritating, and no matter how many times I switch my e-mail account the same thing keeps happening. Oh well...that's how it goes I guess...

Christmas Shopping
Saturday, September 13, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I am the type of person who likes to think ahead when ti comes to Christmas presents. I already have a good idea what I want to get Renee, but just have to find the exact right thing, at the right price. She really would like a pair of Manolo Blahnik slingback shoes. Since she's now getting her masters, she doesn't want to spend that kind of money on herself for a pair of shoes. That's why I thought it would be a perfect thing for me to get her. I took a look and they are very nice. I don't blame her for wanting them.

Ebaying
Thursday, September 11, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Lately I've been into this whole ebaying thing and the simplicity of making money that way!! I never realized how easy it would be to post things on there and make money within days. I would have to say the only downfall to it all is shipping everything. Finding the time to do this, as well as getting the right materials to package everything is kind of difficult. It's worth it though, as the difficulty of finding shipping boxes is nothing compared to the money I am making!! I am going to continue to do this. It's one of the easiest ways to make some extra cash.

Epocrates Online
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Doctors have a huge job not only diagnosing symptoms, but to also be able to prescribe the right prescription drug is even more critical. When prescribing a drug the doctor must know the risk factors, treatment approach, the right tests, if any, to make that the patient can safely take the drug. With a burden like this it is very easy to see why they use Epocrates Online for the information they need to make important prescribing decisions. Epocrates was first offered as a medical software that had to be purchased in order to use it, now doctors can use Epocrates Online for free. This allows doctor to have rapid access to practical, evidence- based content that helps them make their decision fast and easy, like that of chronic atrial fibrillation for instance. So if you are a Clinician seeking this kind of content, search no further, this will be your first and last stop. This announcement was paid for by Epocrates

California Business Trip
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Well, the week is coming to an end and soon I will be on a flight back home. I've been in California the past week and have had such a great time. It was a business trip, but we still had a lot of fun. I could definitely see myself living here one day. The city is amazing and the scenery is incredible! I'm going to post pictures as soon as I get back so you can see just how beautiful of a place that we stayed. It's going to be hard going back to work after having such a nice relaxing week here. Well, ok...it wasn't exactly relaxing, but still...it didn't feel so much like work.

Great American Seafood Cook-Off 2008
Friday, September 05, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I never used to be one that liked seafood, but after dating my girlfriend who enjoys eating all kinds of food, she opened my eyes to a number of great foods that I never otherwise would have tried!!! Seafood was one of these foods. How about you? Do you like it?? And, did you know that if you eat domestic seafood it's the best because it’s fresh, it’s local local, and tastes so good!! I just learn new things all the time! Knowing how much I like this food, I was introduced to the Great American Seafood cook off 2008 by her. I am so glad that she did. I found the best recipe under the top five that people are currently voting on on their site, www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com. My favorite is the Pan Roasted Glazed Rockfish With Peas and Carrots by Chef Tafari Campbell from Maryland. You definitely need to take a look if you like seafood! What I like best about this dish is that it seems so simple. It has the fish and the veggies and doesn't seem so overdone like some of the others. I like that it includes foods that I have tried before and like too. I would definitely recommend this recipe to others. Take a moment and check out this site for yourself. Even choose or vote for your favorite recipe for a chance to win a trip to New Orleans. That's definitely a great reason to vote, don't you think?? You won't be sorry you did. Thursday, September 04, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Today I plans of getting so much done, but I can't knowing that my phone is in the mail and soon will be getting delivered. Yep...that's right, another phone!! I know, I know...I am quite the technology nut. I just love getting the latest gadgets and letting people know how they work. I guess you could say I am the guy to come to if you need a review on the latest things. I am usually one of the first to try them, so if you're looking at buying something technological...tv's, phones, computers, etc....just ask and I'm sure I can tell you how it works. That's the beauty of the internet...most of your questions can be answered at the click of a button!

Air Tools
Tuesday, September 02, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

There are so many neat tools out there nowadays! I've always been someone who's into tools. I especially like the air tools that I've been able to find recently. They're very handy in doing all kinds of big and small jobs, and something I think everyone should own. How about you, do you own any air tools? If not, you should definitely look into it. They're really something that comes in very useful many times.

Needing Rain
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Today we were supposed to get some rain, however, as I look out of my window I see none yet. The sky has looked gray and cloudy for quite some time, but still...there is no rain. I think we have like a 60 or 70 percent chance...so I would assume we'd get something at some point today or tonight. I kind of hope we do....as we could really use it. Things are beginning to look dry and need some refreshing.

On the other hand, with rain usually comes cooler temps. This is something I'm not a fan of, and definitely am not wanting to welcome our way just yet. The cooler temps can stay away for good as far as I'm concerned. That's not very practical thinking here where I live, but I can always hope. Right?!? We'll have to see what this rain, or lack there of, does and pray for nice weather the rest of the week!

Nothing "labor" about it...
Monday, September 01, 2008 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I am typically not the type of person to enjoy work...but thinking about Labor Day got me thinking about how much I love my job!! It's really not "labor" to me at all. Isn't that great?!? I feel very blessed to have this position with John Deere...it is my dream job and only one God could have found for me! It's amazing how at 22 years old I am already in the career that I could really see myself staying with the rest of my time working!! They make it so easy to love your job, because they're such a wonderful company to work for! I never would have though in a million years that just out of college I would be working for John Deere and loving what I do every day! God is good!
