SCARY MOVIE MANIA!
Monday, October 30, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

WOW! If any of you are fans of scary movies like I am, this week has been wonderful for us! AMC has had 'monsterfest X' going on for 10 days! It is great, I am not a big fan of the Halloween season, but the one good thing about it is scary movies! Child's Play, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, and of course, Halloween 1-7! I love the old Jamie Lee Curtis movies! Be sure to tune into AMC (basic cable channel) for all the faves!

more news on my vista experience
Sunday, October 29, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

More from the Vista front! So far so good... Everything is going great with vista other than the driver problems. I have an Intel i855 Extreme 3d Grapics card and suprisingly enough, Intel (one of the largest graphics card producers in the world) has not come out with a Vista upgraded driver for my card! Fortunately, vista comes with a standard VGA compatible driver, so everything looks the way it should, but I still can't use the Aero functionality:( I don't know, I guess I just have to wait and wait for that driver to show its beautiful little face. I got my brother-in-law hooked up with Vista on his Dell laptop (mine is Gatway by the way), and he has a Nvidia graphics card, and it turns out that Nvidia has already come out with beta drivers for vista and so his computer gets the Aero option!!! errgg.. I was mad=) anyways, thats about it for now=)

Office 2007
Friday, October 27, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

As I previously posted, I recently obtained a copy of Office 2007! It is absolutely awesome! The design, the new options, it counts the words right down in the left corner! It is just amazing. I noticed that when I save a Word, PPT, or Excel document on 2007 it saves as a .docx or .pptx and the 2003 version of office saved files with these extensions without the "x", so if you move a word document from 2007 to a computer with 2003 word it will not open. BUT, no worries. If you are planning to open the file on an older system, you can simply choose to save the file as a 2003 document under the save as options. Microsoft really thought of everything this time!

Vista problems!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

My new windows vista is great but I haven't got the option to activate windows aero! Windows aero is one of the coolest parts about vista. It has a glass appearance for the whole OS. It also gives you the flip3D effect that everyone is so in love with. Unfortunately, the vista drivers for my video card have not come out yet, so I am unable to use the aero theme=( But, vista is definitely worth getting anyhow!

Social Work Class
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I don't know if any of you are social work majors in college but I find my social work class to be very odd. Pretty much everyone in my class are majoring in social work and I am just taking the class to fulfill a gen ed requirement. Everyone in my class gives me a hard time for not really caring a whole lot about what is going on in the world. They all seem to believe that they can save the world. Honestly, the whole class gives me a feeling that I don't enjoy a whole lot. I really suggest that if you are not up on all the current events in the world, not to take a social work class!

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I was looking for trial versions of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint last night, when I came across a great deal! Microsoft is providing anyone with $1.50 to download the full version of the complete Microsoft Office 2007! I simply filled out my information and paid $1.50 and voila!!! I was then redirected to a download link where I could download the entire Office series! Just so you know, 2007 Office is FAR better than any other years! Search for "download Microsoft office 2007" on Google and click the first link! It is magnificent!

Got it done!
Saturday, October 21, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I sucked up my worries and installed Vista on my laptop today! Everything works GREAT! The only problem that I had was that my anti-virus software was incompatible. But that is a minor set back in the big picture! The appearance is by FAR the coolest part of Vista! The animations, the futuristic design, and the Aero flip3D are awesome! Again, get over to microsoft's vista site and get a copy for free!

Windows Vista
Friday, October 20, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Microsoft is offering windows vista to the first 200,000 people who want it absolutely free! You can download the OS right from Microsoft.com! I personally downloaded the ISO last night from them and they have pretty shady instructions on burning the image to DVD so I am having difficulties on that part! I am really looking forward to installing it! I really suggest that if this interests you at all, get over to their site and get a copy before they stop the offer!

COMPUTER FAILURE!
Thursday, October 19, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

What a drag! I use my laptop all the time and for no apparent reason at all the computer just crashed last night! I know my fair share of stuff about computers, but this is just one of those things that happens for no reason at all. I had just finished cleaning the hard drive of all the old crap, like movies and music and stuff, when my girlfriend noticed that the computer was running really badly. Next thing I know the computer just crashed and wouldn't restart, so I had to reformat the whole thing, losing all of the puzzle pieces that I had accumulated for the PPP contest! Oh well, life goes on. Ill just have to spend hours and hours again trying to find them all online. So, be sure to always back up what you have on your computer!

FW 3.0 for PSP?
Tuesday, October 17, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Well, if you haven't heard already, SONY apparently sent the upcoming FW 3.0 to a select few registered PSP users to beta test the FW. It apparently will play most common video files, and also comes with the official SONY PS1 emulator! Do you think it's fake? QJ has a few good reasons why this may be a hoax. Remember that if you are ever offered something like this, that your homebrew capabilities will be shot!

Midterms!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Oh my gosh! I actually missed a midterm this last week! Ahh! I couldn't believe it, I miss the class because the professor never even hinted that the midterm was going to be that day! He expected us to be aware of the test by following the syllabus, and I understand that. But come on, what kind of teacher doesn't at least remind you the day before or something? But, I called him late at night and he said that he will let me sit and wonder all weekend if I am going to be able to make it up or not! What a jerk. Oh well, life goes on! Anyways people, make sure you always get to your classes, you just never know what you may miss that day!

SONY Stock Is Up!
Sunday, October 15, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

SONY stock shares have been up and down this year and since the delay of the PS3 release back in the Spring time the shares have been nothing more than 'poor'! But good news for all you share holders and fans of SONY! With the upcoming release of PS3 the SONY stock has already gone up almost 4%! I suggest buying now (keeping in mind of course that I am not a financial advisor) before the PS3 releases in the U.S.!

Triple Triad v0.1 Released!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

TheEmulatorGuy has just released the first version of his homebrew clone of Triple Triad. The WIP game currently features the capability to play against AI players using random and closed rules, however, the next release of Triple Triad is planned to be head and shoulders better then this initial release, adding in two player support, and including all of the rules featured in Final Fantasy VIII. These features will, coupled with the RPG system used to trade and play with other characters, make this game one heck of a great Triple Triad clone for PSP. Great work TheEmulatorGuy, and good work wrapping up v0.1 of this game just in time for the PSP3D Ultimate Goodies And Cash Giveaway contest! Get more info at PSP3d.com!

More information on the plane crash yesterday in NYC! It turns out that the memory chip from the aircraft has been found. Story Highlights: NEW NTSB: Memory chip from aircraft's panel recovered; Lidle's recovered log shows 88 hours cockpit time, 47 in command; No confirmation that plane issued mayday call before hitting high-rise! That's right, no mayday call had been placed.

My little update!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

I post quite a bit about alternatives to adsense, such as Relevant Ads and Bidvertiser. Well, I just thought that I would let you know that Relevant Ads is my new top choice. If you are going to post PPC links on your site or blog, I suggest Relevant Ads as the top choice. Relevant Ads are great; they are easy to sign up with and no approval is necessary. Also, with Adsense I was cancelled for no reason at all. They just decided one day that my clicks were too minimal or something stupid like that. and I lost the $70 that I had accumulated! With Relevant Ads you don't have to worry about this junk! So, if you want to make a little extra cash with your blog, use Relevant Ads. And of course if you want to make big money with your blog, use PAYPERPOST=)

Hilary Duff on PSP?
Friday, October 06, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Boy o' boy! She just gets her paws into everything. It has been reported that
Hilary Duff will be a character in the new Sims 2: Pets on PSP!

Here is was QJ had to say!
Hollywood and gaming are two industries about to come reach a crossroad. Take for example Director Peter Jackson on the Halo Project and Star Trek's five captains doing voice overs. Today, that relationship becomes even stronger as Electronic Arts announced the inclusion of Hilary Duff in the list.

The actress/fashion designer/recording artist will be appearing in the upcoming Sims title, The Sims 2: Pets for the DS and the PSP. This apparently is the video debut for Duff and her blue fawn teacup chihuahua. "I've logged hundreds of hours playing The Sims games, so I jumped at the chance to be in The Sims 2 Pets," happily shares Duff.

Furthermore, EA Executive Producer for the Sims division Rod Humble claims that Hilary Duff is the perfect partner in making the game. "Not only is she a huge animal lover, but she is also a Sims fan," says Humble. The Sims 2: Pets is scheduled for release at the end of this month.

Hey Rod Humble! Paris Hilton's got a chihuahua too, right?

PSP FW Downgrader!
Thursday, October 05, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

QJ has released news that Dark_AleX has the PSP FW downgrader working as a universal downgrader now. Any PSP up to FW 2.71 can now be downgraded to 1.5 FW! This is great news in the world of PSP! Remember to downgrade ONLY if you have a copy of the 1.5 FW from the past, do not download it from a shady site on net, as this is illegal, and please, for the sake of PSP lovers around the world, keep it legal!
Here is what QJ had to say!
"One of the commentors on our frontpage once said, "If the PSP is the Matrix, then Dark_AleX is Neo." And going by the latest developments, it wouldn't be very far from the truth. A few months ago, the PSP scene was "dying". Although homebrew development had been going strong, it still felt like we were going nowhere. New firmwares, blocked homebrew...It had become a regular game. Then came some cracking times (pun intended ;), with the wave of exploits from people like Hitchhikr and NOPX86, and many many more. The "scene" was resurrected within a few days, and look where we are today! And keeping it going strong is none other than Dark_AleX. If you've found it difficult to use the downgrader, with all the messing around with dumps, or if you've been left out because you couldn't find a dump, Dark_AleX has just made all of it a piece of cake. Now no messing around with dumps, checking to see if it's the correct one. The latest downgrader by Dark_AleX allows you to downgrade your 2.71 PSP to any version upto 1.5.For the TA-082 owners, the lowest you can go is 2.50. Do not try to downgrade below that, your PSP will brick 100%. Please make sure that you're not running a TA-082 before trying to downgrade below 2.50.So how does it work? Well, all you need is Dark_AleX's 2.71 Homebrew Enabler Rev.C, and the EBOOT.PBP file of the firmware you want to downgrade to. So you can downgrade from a 2.71 to just about every other firmware including 1.50,2.0,2.01,2.50 and 2.60. And luckily for everyone here, those files can be shared legally. Plus, you can simply download them off our server here. Just select the update file of the firmware you want to downgrade to, and slap the files on your PSP's memory stick. Below is a list of firmwares which we recommend in case you're downgrading. Just click on the respective version to download it."

New PSP Title!
Posted By: Jake - Comments:

The video game industry just keeps on popping out new games for the PSP! Chili con Carnage is one of the many up and coming games for psp! Check out what QJ had to say about it!

Ramirez Cruz is one angry Mexican. He lives in the somewhat disreputable town of Los Toros. Ramirez Cruz does not eat Chili con Carne for breakfast, lunch nor supper. He wants something more spicy and hotter. What Ramirez wants is Chili con Carnage.

Such is the title of the upcoming high action title from Eidos Interactive. The UK-based publisher-developer is well known for successful series such as Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain and Hitman among others. For their latest shooter game, Eidos ask the help of Deadline Games.

In case you are wondering just how Ramirez Cruz is angry, Deadline Games CEO Chris Mottes shares: "It's the biggest explosion frequency and the highest takedown rate you will ever experience on the PSP." All in all, the game offers 19 missions across 7 different locations plus four game modes. Also, characters include mustachioed mercenaries, megalomaniacal crime-lords and chemically mutated super-Mama’s.

Socom Cheat Device is FAKE!
Monday, October 02, 2006 Posted By: Jake - Comments:

Though many have have had doubts about the Illusion Cheat Device since the very moment it was released, there is still quite a following of users who believe that the first multiplayer cheat device for SOCOM: FTB for PSP is a legitimate release. This is not the case. After careful inspection by top PSP developers, it has been noticed that the Illusion is nothing but a "Hello World" application not-so-cleverly disguised as a multiplayer hack, which promised to bring rapid-fire, unlimited ammo, and much more the the infrastructure mode of the game. Since its release, not a single person has managed to run the hack successfully, and nobody has found the supposed #2 on the back of SOCOM's UMD. Furthermore, a conversation with the developer, Static, yielded an outright statement that Illusion, is in fact, a fake. There you have it folks, Illusion is now a confirmed fake.

As some said, the "Illusion was really just an illusion"; yet another fake application released in the PSP scene for the sole purpose of boosting the reputation of an online nametag, in this case, "Static". The overall result of these findings is double-sided; the individuals who enjoy using multiplayer hacks are disappointed, yet the honest online gamers can now rejoice; SOCOM for PSP is still hack-free!
